When Supreme Court  Justice Gary Wade of Sevierville was introduced by Richard W. Krieg as “a former successful trial attorney,” Wade quipped, “I would have been far more successful except for Charlie Lewis, Dick Krieg, John King, and Dennis Jarvis, all of whom were (and still are) formidable adversaries in the courtroom!”   Justice Wade reserved his highest praise for Lewis, whom he described as “an icon in the profession - a paragon of courtesy and a dear friend.  On behalf of the Tennessee Supreme Court, I congratulate you for fifty years in the profession and wish you the best for fifty more.”

A commemorative portrait by Charlie Daniel was unveiled.
